F.A.Q.
Q: What kind of prices can I expect?
A: Because I create one-of-a-kind, high-quality garments and accessories, I do very little work that will be under $100. For example, the standard rate I ask for a Sailor Moon costume (the original first season style) is $300. A Princess Serenity gown in the manga style is $350. I don't usually include shoes or wigs. The prices are what they are because I use only the best materials, and I do not mass produce. These costumes and accessories are well made, true garments, each one individual and special! It's an investment into an artwork that I hope you will care about and love for a long time to come!
Q: Can I send you a drawing/description to make?
A: Yes! Sort of. I'd love to have you send me original artwork or character descriptions for me to look into! With those I especially like to have your preference of fabric, as well as several poses if it's a drawing or photo.
The sort of part is that I can't promise that I can actually make the garment you send me. There are two reasons for that. Reason one is the issue of copyright and public domain. No, not everything on the Internet is public domain. I look at it this way... If it's common knowledge, I'll try it (Example... One of Arwen's dresses from the LotR movies). If you want me to do something unpublished or something like that (like Min Rho's Claysoldiers), I need to personally contact the creator, because they may not want someone in their costume! Of course, if it's you sending me your unpublished creation, that's all up to you!
And reason two is... *points to next question*
Q: How do I know what you'll do and what you won't do?
A: Well, you'll just have to ask me. I don't have great fantabulous mad skillz, as much as I wish I did, and I'm just not always sure I can hack my way through something. For example, I really specialize in garment creation, and making accessories and props isn't always in my realm of knowledge (though I can definately send you to someone who does have that knowledge). I'd rather be absolutely sure, for your sake, than be only kinda sure and have to come back and tell you I can't make it. That's just not good business. But please! If there's something you don't see, ask! I love email!
Q: How long will it take?
A: Generally, it takes me about two months to create a custom commission. There are a lot of things I have to do before I actually start sewing, like patterning, shopping for fabrics and notions, and don't forget that I'm a student and have a regular job, too! I wish I could do this all the time, but I can't quite yet! So if you are interested in purchasing a commission, please let me know as early as possible, so that we can schedule things together that will make it the best experience for both of us.
Q: Will you make me (insert character's name here)'s (insert shoe, accessory, wig, etc, here)?
A: Probably not. My specialty lies in fiber arts and garment construction. I don't make shoes or weapons, period. If it's part of the contract, I will do my utmost to get it for you, but I do have several recommendations in my links section. Please do not ask me to create complicated wigs, such as Sailormoon; my skills simply are not what they should be in that area, and I won't offer a product that doesn't live up to my standards.
Q: I love your stuff! Can I do anything to help you out?
A: YES! You can visit Doko Ni Cosplay Directory and rate me! The higher the better of course, but it's your honesty I appreciate the most, so I know how I'm doing! Your feedback is important to me too, so please feel free to use the Contact page to let me know what you think! ^^
